Meet the New Beta Alp 4.0 & Alp X - A Long-Awatied Cult Classic

Jul. 10 2025 News By Admin

For years, riders across Europe have known the Beta Alp as the ultimate low-maintenance, go-anywhere dual sport. With their low seat heights, torquey motors, and lightweight feel, Alp models quietly earned a reputation as mountain goats in street-legal clothing — used by farmers, explorers, and weekend adventurers alike.

Now, for the first time ever, Beta is bringing the Alp lineup to the U.S. — introducing two brand-new models built on that same beloved foundation: the 2026 Beta Alp 4.0 and Alp X. If you've been searching for a dual sport that's approachable, affordable, and actually fun to ride slow, this is it.

These bikes aren’t chasing horsepower numbers or rally-style suspension travel. They're designed for the real world and fun like tight trails, logging roads, and technical climbs.

Engine & Chassis: Built for Simplicity and Reliability

Engine: Both models share a newly developed 348 cc liquid‑cooled DOHC single, producing around 35 hp, a product of Beta’s 5-year partnership with China’s Tayo/Zontes engine builder.

Transmission: 6-speed gearbox paired with EFI (44 mm throttle body) — smooth power delivery that testers say is torquey and predictable.

Frame & Suspension: A steel perimeter frame, 43 mm conventional front fork (≈7.3 in travel), and a non-adjustable linkage rear shock (≈7.7 in travel) -  simple, sturdy, and easy to service.
Electronics: Modern touches include a TFT display, dual engine maps, Bosch ABS (with switch-off ability for rear on dirt), and full LED lighting.

Alp 4.0: Your Trail-Ready Go-Anywhere Bike

Wheels: 21″ front / 18″ rear adventure wheels — ideal for off-road terrain.

Seat Height: Approx. 34 in, offering a sweet-spot balance of ground clearance and accessibility.

Weight: 308 lb dry

Fuel: 2.9-gallon tank aiming for 130 mi real-world range.

On Trails: Multiple testers described it as “remarkably torquey,” with smooth bottom-end power, manageable suspension, and fun dirt performance. The only hesitation is some throttle lag at idle.

Alp X: Street-Savvy, Yet Dirt-Capable

Wheels: 17″ front / 19″ rear setup — more versatile for street-first riders, allowing tubeless tire use.

Seat Height: Slightly lower than the 4.0 (exact not specified, but testers noted its ease at stops).

Styling: Different bodywork and a rear fender that moves with the wheel, giving it a sleeker look.

Intended Use: More street-oriented. You still get the same engine and chassis, but optimized for commuting and lighter adventure use.

Why are we excited about these new models? Because in a world full of skyscraper seat heights, twitchy race motors, and price tags that make your wallet flinch, the Alp 4.0 and Alp X keep it simple — and that’s exactly the point. They’re easy to throw a leg over, smooth where it counts, and don’t come loaded with tech you’ll never use.

These are a classic Euro dual-sport with just the right amount of grit. Whether you’re looking for your first dual sport or just something fun that won’t beat you up on the trail or the price sheet, these two finally give U.S. riders a no-nonsense option that punches way above its weight.
